McAllen Chamber presented award honoring success and growth

(EDINBURG, TX – November 17, 2010) – Spa La Posada, a premiere spa, salon and boutique located in South Texas, has been named a “Top 5 Small Business” by the McAllen Chamber of Commerce. The award recognizes small businesses that exhibit continued growth and help provide a positive impact on the local economy and community.

Spa La Posada is a dream come true for its owner, Edna Posada who accepted the award. She is the proud, sole owner of three Spa La Posada locations and Merle Norman Cosmetic Studios (McAllen, Harlingen and Brownsville). Her passion for makeup took her from being a makeup artist at a department store to then owning a Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio. She started her business nearly 21 years ago during a time that it was not the norm to see a woman start a business on her own. Also, while growing her business, she was balancing being a busy mom to Alexandria, 20, and Daniel, 16.

One of things that has attributed to Spa La Posada’s continued growth and success is the staff at Spa La Posada. Spa La Posada currently employs 21 people; 10 in McAllen, 7 in Harlingen and 4 in Brownsville. There are some staff members that have been with the company since 1997.

Over the years, Spa La Posada has reinvented itself. From a cosmetic studio providing those before and after makeovers, to adding a relaxing spa and now to an addition of a one-of-a-kind clothing boutique—the transformation of Spa La Posada is quite unique. New product and service revenue for Spa La Posada has increased 34 percent over the past three years an accomplishment duly recognized by her community, the City of McAllen and the McAllen Chamber of Commerce.
