Edna Posada named Shining Star by Zonta International Club

 

On April 27, Edna Posada, owner of Spa La Posada, was recognized as a Shining Star of Hidalgo County by the Zonta International Club. She was acknowledged for her professional contributions to the community.

The Zonta International Club is a global service organization of executives in business working together to advance the status of women through service and advocacy. Each year the Zonta Club recognizes women in the community that are positive role models and symbolize success in their field, plus promote volunteerism in the community.

As Posada walked up to receive her award, she was given a standing ovation by a group of over 200 at the McAllen County Club. “It was a very humbling experience,” said Posada, who in the same week received the Women in Business Champion Award by the U.S. Small Business Association. “I feel very honored to be recognized by the women of the Zonta Club because they themselves are a group of phenomenal women that I admire as well.”

 

 

 



Edna Posada awarded Women in Business Champion by U.S. SBA

Accepting the Women in Business Champion Award on behalf of Edna Posada, owner of Spa La Posada, is Sara Van Wyk, Posada’s sister.

Edna Posada, owner of Spa La Posada, was honored with the U.S. Small Business Association Women in Business Champion Award on Friday, April 29. This award is given to individuals who promote the efforts of women in business from entrepreneurship to empowerment to education.

Since she opened her first location over 22 years ago, Posada has made many strides to help advance women in business. She has participated on several boards, such as Dress for Success and the Rio Grande Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, which allowed her to tackle issues that affect women entering the business world.

“Edna Posada is one of the most deserving Women in Business Champions ever,” said Sylvia Zamponi, district director for the U.S. SBA Lower Rio Grande Valley. “She has championed the needs of women for many years sharing her experiences and wisdom with the many who admire her successes and welcome her advice. Edna has become a mentor to many who identify with her and appreciate her openness with ‘tips of the trade.”

 


 

Spa La Posada Named McAllen’s Top 5 Small Businesses

Edna Posada, owner of Spa La Posada, accepts the Top 5 Small Business Award from the McAllen Chamber of Commerce.

Spa La Posada, a premiere spa, salon and boutique located in South Texas, has been named a “Top 5 Small Business” by the McAllen Chamber of Commerce. The award recognizes small businesses that exhibit continued growth and help provide a positive impact on the local economy and community.

One of things that has attributed to Spa La Posada’s continued growth and success is the staff at Spa La Posada. Spa La Posada currently employs 21 people; 10 in McAllen, 7 in Harlingen and 4 in Brownsville. There are some staff members that have been with the company since 1997.
